RF DRYING SYSTEM FOR PATTERNED GLUE APPLICATIONS

A drying system that provides greater efficiency than conventional convection and infrared systems for the high-speed drying of patterned glue and water-based coatings in the converting and textile industries is being introduced by Radio Frequency Co., Inc. of Millis, Massachusetts.

Horizontal Web Dryer

The Macrowave™ RF Drying System selectively heats only the patterned glue (wetted sections) on the web and leaves the bound moisture in the substrate intact, to prevent over-drying, distortion, and shrinking. Capable of operating at speeds up to 1500 FPM, this system needs one-third to one-fifth of the floor space required for hot air and IR dryers, permits lower web temperatures, and provides up to 80% energy savings.

Eliminating the long dwell times associated with conventional heating methods, the Macrowave™ RF Drying System reduces make-ready because RF power is instant ON/OFF and is only consumed with a load in the system. This RF dryer can handle webs up to 120"W and meets all OSHA safety regulations and FCC standards on communication non-interference.

The Macrowave™ RF Drying System is priced from $60,000 up, depending upon configuration. Literature and quotations are available on request
